Learning
How can Schools, Colleges and Universities use Pump House Gallery to help provide high quality learning?
Alongside the upcoming exhibition, Inspirational Objects: Nature as Designer, there will be number of ways in which Pump House Gallery can be used by local schools and community groups as a valuable learning resource. The first floor of the gallery will become a workshop space, with a selection of found and recycled objects available for visiting groups to create their own inspirational objects.
What we offer
On Wednesdays to Fridays, from 10am, we welcome schools and groups to visit the gallery. We are delighted to be able to offer:
Staff led Tours and Workshop: Your visit would comprise of a half an hour tour followed by half an hour workshop on the first floor, both facilitated by the gallery staff. There is a choice of themes for the workshops, which are:
- Story Box This workshop will look at the stories that objects can tell. Inspired by Alison Milner’s boxes in the exhibition, this workshop will combine drawing and collage to create our own story box.
- Inspirational Inventions This workshop will look at how nature has inspired technology. Ranging from the wacky to the wonderful, the group will design and create their own invention using found and recycled materials.
- Objects as Designer At this workshop, man made objects will be the designer as recycled everyday objects will be used to create plants, flowers or animals.
Our staff are experienced in dealing with a range of ages and audiences ensuring that tour and workshop is tailored to the visit. Booking necessary, fee £2 per child.
Self led visit and workshop: The gallery is available for self navigated visits to schools and community groups, with optional use of our workshop space. Self navigated visits are FREE, booking necessary.
Bespoke day of activity: Alongside school and group visits, the gallery can also cater visits for workplaces; set in the park, it is the perfect setting for team building away days. We can arrange for a bespoke day of activities for a maximum of 15 people. Please contact us for more information.
Collaborative partnership projects: Pump House Gallery is also able to work with schools on longer specific collaborative education projects. Examples of past successful schools collaborations include the Wandsworth Schools Art Exhibition and Departure Lounge. Contact us at the gallery to discuss further.
The gallery can accommodate groups of up to 30 individuals. For those wishing to use our workshops space, we would suggest only up to 15 individuals, and larger groups can be split between a tour and workshop.
