11am – 4pm daily
We are delighted to be back at Southside Shopping Centre following the success of last year’s Halloween and Christmas ‘The Portal’ workshops, which explored unusual creatures and mystical objects from the river Wandle.
This February half-term Pump House Gallery invites artist Amy Pennington to turn her attention from ‘Creatures of The Portal’ to ‘Young People of the Wandle’. Each day you can take part in a collective map-making exercise, slogan-designing and badge-making, alongside other craft and drawing activities.
Join Amy at these free drop-in workshops to create a ‘Young People of the Wandle’ map, using different techniques and materials to mark your space on this Southside banner. Tell Amy about your aspirations for the future of your area. What would your ideal park look like? Can you design a new school? Amy will also look at different ways of drawing to help you design your own slogan, which you can put on a badge and take home.
About the artist
Drawing and working with people form the foundations of Amy’s practice. She uses everyday materials like cardboard to transgress the boundaries of high and low art, venturing into other mediums such as film, installation and performance. Amy works collaboratively with people as participants or co-creators, often in non art spaces including care homes, parks and working men’s clubs.
