11am – 3pm each day
Some[w]Here is a contemporary arts project led by Sally Labern and Bobby Lloyd of the drawing shed and taking place on the housing estates of Carey, Patmore and Savona in Nine Elms, Wandsworth. Some[w]Here is engaging people in making conversations about migration, survival and resourcefulness, austerity, imagination, the value of play, and a sense of community!
During Some[w]Here Research, the drawing shed has been exploring the history of the area, including the old soap factories and markets. They have heard some amazing stories from older people from across the world now living on the estates - about how go-carting (using soap and orange boxes) lit up their imaginations on the streets back in the day.
The drawing shed is now Calling all Ages across Carey, Patmore and Savona estates to join them on December 6th and 7th in making a number of playful mobile structures / go-carts for our streets today, recycling wheels/parts and using old/new ideas! They are working with two designer-makers, George Williams and Nozomi Nakabayashi, and their trusty team of volunteers. Also look out for performance artists Jordan McKenzie & Daniella Valz Gen on the three estates, including the P5 Bus!
